Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
What does this no-cartridge item require before it can play records?
Choose and install a cartridge, then connect it to an appropriately matched receiver PHONO input or external stage. The observed U.S.-facing seller page now redirects, so this is a package-identification reference rather than a current offer.
Explore this need in the finder →Can this bare package feed powered speakers directly?
No built-in phono stage is documented. Select a cartridge and a matching external phono stage, then connect the stage's line output to the powered speakers; the line input alone is insufficient.
Explore this need in the finder →Does a balanced mini-XLR connector mean any cartridge will work?
No. Pro-Ject's manual requires an MC cartridge for true-balanced mini-XLR use, plus a separately obtained balanced cable and compatible balanced phono stage. The observed no-cartridge package leaves cartridge choice to the buyer.
Explore this need in the finder →This reference assessment covers the separate 6PerspeX Balanced configuration observed without a supplied cartridge. It is not the Pick it MC3 bundle and should not inherit that package's cartridge, setup state or balanced-use assumption. The exact U.S.-facing dealer page is no longer directly reachable: its current URL redirects to a general collection, and the indexed item record showed conflicting sold-out and shipping-status text. This entry is retained to identify the observed package, not to recommend a current offer.
The chassis is the same idea; the contents are not
Pro-Ject's current model page and product-information sheet describe a transparent acrylic plinth, a Corian sub-chassis supported by magnetic fields, belt drive, a sandwich platter and an adjustable 9-inch carbon tonearm. The motor control changes electronically between 33 and 45 RPM. The U.S.-facing no-cartridge item observation separately identifies seller code 6PERXBAL-NC and a displayed barcode; neither is treated as a canonical manufacturer part number. The official information sheet distinguishes a no-cartridge option from a Pick it MC3 version, which is why this assessment remains separate from the MC3 package review. This configuration asks you to complete the analog front end. Select a cartridge that suits the tonearm and the phono input you actually own, then install and align it. The manufacturer manual allows standard half-inch mounting, describes the counterweight options, and tells the user to get dealer help when unfamiliar with alignment. A model name or an available balanced output does not decide the cartridge for you. For RCA use, the selected pickup must feed an appropriately matched PHONO input or an external phono stage before a LINE input. For the true-balanced mini-XLR route, Pro-Ject says the turntable must carry an MC cartridge, and the separate balanced cable and compatible phono stage are also needed. A buyer choosing an MM cartridge can use only a matching unbalanced phono route; the MC3 bundle's path cannot be assumed for this bare package. It is not a preamp or an automatic deck
There is no built-in phono preamp, no supplied cartridge and no documented Bluetooth path. The manual describes a user-operated speed button and tonearm lift, so manual cueing is part of playback. The maker lists 33 and 45 RPM; the consulted sources do not confirm 78 RPM, end-of-record auto-stop or automatic arm return. Unknown behavior is not a substitute for a requested automatic stop. If you want one-button start and end handling, or need a deck that feeds ordinary powered-speaker LINE inputs directly, this configuration does not meet that brief as documented.Space, level and setup effort
The official sheet gives a body footprint of 460 x 183 x 365 mm, about 18.11 x 7.20 x 14.37 inches, and 11 kg net. It misses an 18-inch maximum width and 14-inch maximum depth, crossing those half-inch questionnaire boundaries at 18.5 and 14.5. This is not a clearance measurement. The cover, RCA or mini-XLR cable, arm travel and the need for a stable level surface need their own allowance. The instructions also describe leveling the suspended sub-chassis using its adjustment screws; installation and cartridge setup are tasks, not evidence that a new user will find them effortless. One technical caution: the product-information sheet assigns ±0.1% to wow/flutter and ±0.06% to speed drift, while the manual reverses those two labels. Neither is used in matching, and the disagreement is not converted into a performance verdict. The practical point is that the reviewed record supports the hardware and setup route more clearly than a comparative performance claim. What this edition is for
Keep the no-cartridge option in view only if you are intentionally selecting a compatible cartridge and can handle or arrange correct installation and alignment. It offers room to choose an MM or MC pickup for a corresponding phono stage; the balanced output is conditional on choosing MC and buying the right cable and preamp. It is not a ready-to-play package by itself. Before considering any offer, verify that the box really contains the no-cartridge version, identify the supplied counterweight and cables, confirm the cover and accessories, and make sure the actual retailer item has not been replaced by the MC3 package. Because the observed seller page now redirects and did not show a reliable current offer, this site's assessment is identification-only and carries no purchase action.Evidence limits
The mechanism and setup facts come from Pro-Ject's current 6PerspeX Balanced page, official information sheet and official May 2024 user guide. The no-cartridge U.S. retail identity is from the observed Sky By Gramophone item record, whose direct page now redirects; its contradictory availability text is preserved in the research note and not repeated as a stock statement. The manufacturer image shows the model with a bare-looking headshell, but it is not seller-specific proof of the U.S. package. This is a document-led assessment, not a claim of ownership, test use or measurement.Key specifications
