Pro-Ject T1 EVO BT (black, Ortofon OM10 package) review

A manual 33/45-RPM belt-drive turntable with a switchable internal MM phono stage, Ortofon OM10 cartridge and a Bluetooth 5.0 aptX HD transmitter. Bluetooth sends playback to a compatible receiver/speaker/headphone; it is not a Bluetooth input and the deck has no speakers or power amplifier.

A useful fit for

A fit for listeners who want both a switchable MM stage and a wireless transmitter to a compatible Bluetooth playback device, but remain comfortable manually cueing and returning the arm.

The main tradeoff

Bluetooth only transmits the record output and receiver compatibility must be checked; passive speakers need an amplifier. This is not fully automatic, does not document auto-stop or 78 RPM, and published physical dimensions and mass conflict.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can T1 EVO BT drive my powered speakers over Bluetooth?

It can transmit record playback to a compatible Bluetooth playback device, including a powered speaker or Bluetooth receiver; it is not a Bluetooth input or a speaker amplifier. Check the receiving device’s pairing and codec support. Its separate built-in MM stage can also feed a wired line-level input when selected to LINE.

Can T1 EVO BT use a receiver PHONO input as well as its Bluetooth output?

Yes, as an analog route when the rear selector is set to PHONO and the receiver input is MM-compatible. Bluetooth is a separate transmitter route to a compatible receiver or powered speaker; do not send LINE output into PHONO.

Is T1 EVO BT automatic or an input for Bluetooth music?

Neither. The arm is manually cued and returned; no automatic platter stop is documented. Its Bluetooth function transmits record playback out to a receiving device—it does not accept audio from a phone—and the deck has no built-in speakers.

The T1 EVO BT is the most connected member of Pro-Ject’s T1 EVO trio, but “Bluetooth turntable” needs qualification. It is a manual two-speed deck with a built-in switchable MM phono stage and a Bluetooth transmitter. The transmitter sends playback to a compatible Bluetooth receiver, wireless speaker or headphones; it is not an input for streaming music into the turntable, and the deck itself does not contain speakers or a power amplifier. The manufacturer’s T1 EVO manual confirms that BT output begins transmitting when connected to mains and advises using the receiving device’s instructions for pairing. The U.S. retailer’s exact black listing identifies the Ortofon OM 10 package, though no live seller availability or price is claimed here.

Bluetooth adds a route, not a complete stereo system

With a compatible receiver or wireless speaker, the BT transmitter can avoid a long analog cable run. The manufacturer identifies Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD support; a receiving device must also support Bluetooth audio and may not use the same codec. The manual says the unit automatically transmits when powered and recommends restarting the BT module if changing the receiver. Pairing behavior ultimately depends on the receiving device, so verify its own compatible codecs and pairing steps. This is a transmitter-only capability; the T1 EVO BT is not a Bluetooth input deck for a phone, and it should not be described as wireless internet, Wi-Fi or streaming service playback.

Wired connections remain available. In LINE mode, its internal phono stage lets the RCA output feed a conventional line input or powered speakers. In PHONO mode, the built-in stage is bypassed so a suitable receiver PHONO input or separate MM stage can handle the cartridge signal. The right choice depends on the receiving component: line output into a PHONO input would add another phono stage, while PHONO output into AUX would be too low and unequally corrected. Passive speakers still require an amplifier. These routes make the BT more flexible than the Standard, but the version’s wireless convenience does not make its analog output a single universal setting.

Expect a hands-on, manual record routine

Pro-Ject specifies electronic speed selection at 33⅓ and 45 RPM, but the arm still needs manual placement and return. A cueing lever helps lower and raise it; it is not an automatic start or end mechanism. There is no documented platter auto-stop, and 78 RPM is not listed. If an automatic arm routine or a 78 collection is an essential requirement, the BT label does not address either one. Treat it as a conventional manually cued record player whose outputs can be sent by cable or wireless transmitter.

The rest of the platform includes the 8 mm blasted-glass platter with felt mat, belt drive, a larger sub-platter, one-piece aluminum tonearm and pre-adjusted Ortofon OM 10 cartridge. Manufacturer-listed speed variance is 0.7% at 33 and 0.6% at 45, with published wow/flutter of 0.25% and 0.23%; the listed signal-to-noise figure is 65 dB. Those remain claimed product specifications, not results obtained in this review. The cartridge and tracking-force documentation also should be read together: the sheet calls out a factory-pre-adjusted force, while the manual describes its own cartridge recommendation and supplied setup gauge. Follow the exact package guidance when replacing or re-setting a cartridge, rather than extrapolating from one number.

Body measurements are not operating clearance

Three source records disagree on T1 EVO body dimensions: Pro-Ject’s BT page lists 415 × 100 × 335 mm; the shared manual gives 420 × 112 × 330 mm; U.S. retailer pages and their sections vary, including a summary line at 16 15/16 × 4 × 13 1/4 inches and a separate closed-cover details block at 16.5625 × 4.3125 × 13.5625 inches. The mismatch is retained rather than treated as a measurement. For shortlisting, this review uses the largest reported width and depth across the reviewed T1 EVO U.S. records—about 16.94 by 13.56 inches—as a conservative body-only envelope. It is not a guarantee that the deck will fit or operate on a shelf of those exact dimensions. Add clearance for lid movement, arm access, power lead, RCA cable and ventilation around other equipment. Published net weight also varies between the manufacturer page and manual, so check a current package document if lifting weight is a hard constraint.

The T1 EVO BT has detachable RCA leads, unlike the Standard’s captive signal cable. Its documented accessory kit includes a power supply, dust cover and felt mat; the actual carton and finish still need checking against the exact offer. The U.S. Crutchfield listing also identifies black, white and walnut finishes. Those colors do not document different wireless or cartridge behavior, and an image cannot show whether a specific unit has its transmitter enabled or its output switch set to LINE.

Shortlist it for the receiving device you actually have

The BT makes the most sense when you want manual record playback and a wireless link to a compatible receiving device, while keeping the option to use its internal stage or a conventional phono system. It is a less compelling match if Bluetooth is only a speculative future feature, the receiver cannot accept the transmitter’s signal, or you need the deck to amplify passive speakers. The T1 EVO Phono is a close comparison if wired line output is useful but wireless transmission is not; the Standard is the simpler phono-level version when an existing stage already fits your system.

Before choosing an offer, confirm the exact T1 EVO BT variant and Ortofon OM 10 package, identify the Bluetooth receiver and its codec support, inspect the phono/line selector position, and verify the required wired input path as a backup. Check included power supply, detachable lead, mat, belt, dust cover and 7-inch adapter, and measure shelf depth and rear cable clearance rather than relying on the published body dimensions. The current global manufacturer directory is not a complete U.S. inventory, so this review covers only the U.S.-listed black BT package researched here.

The BT page's white and walnut options

The U.S. Turntable Lab T1 EVO BT item page names Gloss Black, Matte White and Walnut choices. Its white-option wording differs from the manufacturer’s Satin White label, so this review preserves the retailer’s name without claiming those labels are interchangeable across packages. The two photographs below are page-linked option images, not proof of a present offer; check exact BT model, finish, OM 10 package and buyer-side compatibility details before choosing.
